특히, 지각을 통해 직접 전파되어 지각구조에 주요하게 영향을 받으며 다양한 정보를 포함하고 있는 지진자료를 통한 연구는 지각구조를 예측하기에 유용한 도구이다.
이러한 지진파를 이용하여 지각속도구조를 밝히고자 하는 노력은 선행연구에 의해 이어져 왔다.
하지만 한반도 남부의 지각속도구조를 밝히기에는 협소한 지진관측망의 분포로 인해 상세한 속도모델을 획득하기에는 한계를 보였다.
게다가 낮은 지진발생률로 인한 자료의 부족은 이러한 한계점을 더욱 극명하게 만들었다.

The effort researching the crustal structure has been continued since our previous study.
But the small number of observatories on the southern Korean Peninsula has been an obstacle from obtaining a sophisticated structural model.
And the low incidence of earthquakes have made this limit even critical.

These kinds of studies that try to find the structure of crust speed using seismic wave has been researched in advance.
But there was a limitation of getting precise speed model for finding the structure of the crust speed of Korean peninsula because of narrow range of earthquake observation network.
Moreover, lack of data due to low possibilities of earthquake made these limitations clear.
