Last Saturday, as the police barricade breached and protesters flooded in, water cannons were hastily dispatched. But one bereaved ‪Sewol‬ mother stood before one of them with her arms stretched out, probably wanting to stop it from hurting student protesters. And it reminded me of the famous "Tank Man" picture from the Tiananmen Square. I wonder what makes them so strong and courageous. Is it because their world has collapsed and they have nothing to lose? South Korean government's neglect and feigned ignorance is turning these bereaved parents into fighters.
